Enthroned on a prehistoric site at the entrance to the Schnalstal Valley is Castle Juval. This is the summer residence of the extreme alpinist Reinhold Messner - the first person to reach all of the world's 14 mountain summits above 8000m. At the castle he makes his vision to cherish and protect the mountains and our cultural heritage from accross the world reality.
The famous mountaineer has converted the castle into an adventure museum that contains an extensive Tibetian collection, a collection of masks from 5 different continents and a gallery with paintings of the mountains. Visitors can also access certain private living areas and an expedition cellar with original mounatin equipment for extreme climbing tours.
Walk to the castle along the Waalweg, take a look at the farm and stop at the inn for lunch.
