

The southern peaks of the Schnalstal Valley start in the Central Alps close to Merano.
Five picturesque villages - Katharinaberg, Karthaus, Unser Frau (Madonna), Vernagt and Kurzras - are dispersed along this alpine valley and offer mountain, sport and culture fanatics many opportunities to be active.
As the Schnalstal Valley is situated on the south face of the Alps, it has a mild climate that makes it especially appealing. Precipitation is low and the snowfall depends on the altitiude.
The Schnalstal Valley is not only in winter a sporting paradise for skiing, crosscountry skiing and snowboarding. The high altitude above 3000m enables pistes to be open in summer. The valley is also an ideal starting point for ski tours and snowshoe trekking.
In summer the spectacular mounain ranges anticipate hikers and nature lovers. Horse riding, canoeing, rock climbing and mountain biking are futher acivities for adventurers.
